About the Association of Single Mothers of Felicity (AMECEF)

In Haiti, single mothers number in the hundreds of thousands. For decades, many mothers have been raising one, two, three, or more children alone. These mothers, coming from different social backgrounds, face economic, social, psychological, educational, legal, and spiritual difficulties.

Many of them find themselves alone for the following reasons: rape, abandonment by the father, divorce, death of their spouse or partner.

Considering the hardships faced by this social category, the Association of Single Mothers of Felicity (AMECEF), a non-profit institution and the first organized structure of its kind in Haiti, duly registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), has taken on the mission of supporting these heroines by helping in various areas.

The Association of Single Mothers of Felicity (AMECEF) implements programs to support the children of these single mothers.

AMECEF also aims to work towards facilitating the resilience of young single mothers by strengthening their self-esteem to better face the daily challenges inherent to their family and social situation.

AMECEF also tasks itself with raising awareness among men regarding their interaction with their partners in matters of sexuality and emotional management, while making them aware of the need to care for their offspring and participate in their education.

AMECEF also seeks to promote true values to serve as benchmarks for children, youth, and adults. Furthermore, it intends to raise awareness among the aforementioned categories about respect for the sacred things in life.

Additionally, AMECEF is involved in the personal development training of children (girls and boys) of single mothers through specific and adapted programs.

Given the importance of mothers in societal balance, it is essential that special attention be given to them. It is with this in mind that the Association of Single Mothers of Felicity makes significant efforts to support single-parent families headed by mothers.

Moreover, considering the influence of single mothers on the psycho-affective and emotional balance of their children, we believe it is the duty of all those who care about a better tomorrow for Haiti to contribute to the growth of this noble mission that AMECEF has undertaken to support these thousands of single mothers who fight daily, under extremely difficult conditions, to ensure, alone, the education of their children.

1. Mobile clinic programs

2. Various counseling (gynecological, preventive care, responsible attitudes, screening, medical assistance sessions, changes in sexual-affective behavior, condom use, adoption of planning strategies, etc.)

AT THE PSYCHOLOGICAL LEVEL: After certain traumas, many people struggle to recover alone. The loss of a child, husband, or parent (child or mother needs psychological support). Romantic disappointment, betrayal, job loss, economic catastrophe (loss of house, fire, kidnapping, loss of material goods, depression, drug use), etc.

A team of psychologists is established at AMECEF to ensure the mental health of children and single mothers.

TRAINING:

As a cross-cutting vector, this axis serves as a denominator for all others in the form of continuous seminars in various fields and club creation.

Hence our slogan 7+1, which is not 8.
